The TORNADO™ Sure Stop Detonation Flame Arrestor is built totally symmetrical, meaning that both ends are identical, allowing protection from either direction in the piping. The housing is generally carbon steel, making a rugged, tough and flame stabilization resistant enclosure. With the carbon or stainless steel construction you can install in lines that are not exactly lined up. The housing is tough enough that the flange bolts will pull the line into place, making the installation possible. The cell component is also made with carbon or stainless steel for the outer shell. The inside grid assembly is constructed of rugged stainless steel, resisting corrosion and heat. The flame quenching media is a durable Alumina Ceramic material which is easy to clean and totally resistant to oxidation and corrosion. The media may also be removed from the cell so that both media and cell may be totally cleaned and inspected. Normally, no replacement parts are required. Our design gives us the flexibility to build many different configurations to suit our customer requirements. confirming that it will meet and exceed guidelines set up by industry representatives
dealing with safety and engineering. As a member of this task force, we are committed to
designing and testing a product that will give the most protection possible to personnel
and equipment. At our testing facility we test many different scenarios, learning the
different ways that things react, therefore we can improve our products.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
The TORNADO™ SURE STOP DETONATION ARRESTOR is a passive device, that has been designed to
prevent the propagation of flame fronts back through transmission lines and piping
configurations. When correctly installed, the devices will extinguish flame fronts
travelling in either direction to or from vapor destruction units and/or storage
facilities.
Basically all flame arrestors and detonation arrestors work on the same theory, that is to
disperse and cool the flame front simultaneously to a temperature below the ignition point
of the gas or vapor contained in the system.
The TORNADO™ SURE STOP DETONATION ARRESTOR employs a completely distinct concept in the
internal design and construction when compared to standard engineering practice and
technology used by other manufacturers. By utilizing this fundamental new approach TORNADO™
TECHNOLOGIES is able to offer and provide a superior system which will perform at
standards unequalled and unparalleled by any competitors. By engaging a diverse series of
stainless steel grid assemblies combined with our practically indestructible Alumina
Ceramic flame cell media we can offer the ultimate protection available.

CLEANING & INSPECTION:
Inspection ports allow easy access for inspection and cleaning. This feature makes
regular servicing of the units simple and trouble-free. Generally, the cell element can be
cleaned through these cleaning ports with a high pressure washer (700 - 1000 psig). This
removes all surface build up on the element. This function can be performed a number of
times until it is no longer effective. At this time the complete flame cell assembly can
be entirely removed for cleaning if extremely fouled. Once removed the element can be
dismantled by qualified personnel and reconditioned to like new condition. This cell
design is so sturdy that it can be sandblasted to be cleaned if circumstances dictate.
These features are of particular benefit to the end user because the cell can always be
reconditioned (not a throw away item) at a minimum cost, saving replacement expenditures
in the future.
The TORNADO™ SURE STOP DETONATION ARRESTOR employs the use of Alumina Ceramic Media
for flame quenching. This quenching media is contained and maintained in position by a
rugged grid system on both sides. When the media is removed from the element it leaves a
cavity between the two grid assemblies. These grid assemblies are each only 1'' or
1.5" thick, thus facilitating easier cleaning because the quenching channels to be
cleaned are only 1'' or 1.5'' long. Also, the Alumina Ceramic Media is totally resistant
to corrosion and breakdown and can be easily cleaned to new condition.
ADDITIONAL TESTING:
The TORNADO™ SURE STOP DETONATION ARRESTOR has met and exceeded all standards set out by
the newly proposed CSA Z343 to go along with our U.S. Coast Guard Acceptance.

more stringent standards, guidelines and specifications for all oilfield equipment -
